Raku is an exciting Japanese firing method! Students choose pre-fired pots and paint them with metals and glazes from Earth.
The pots are then placed into a gas kiln, heated to about 1000°C and removed using Raku tongs.
Fire, water, wind and clay become the creating elements for this magical,colourful technique.
No artistic experience required!

During this Retreat you will:

Discover and learn about glazes and combustion materials
4. Decorate
Decorate pre-made pots & plates. As a bonus learn how to make horse-hair or feather drawings on pre-fired pots.
5. Take Your Art Home
Take home your pots and plates made during the workshop.

ACCOMMODATION
Stay in Jeffreys Bay. Each Unit has 3 x Bedrooms with 2 x Single Beds each, and 3 x Bathrooms. Beach Views from the balcony.

Dina Grobler is a distinguished Fine Art Artist renowned for her expertise in drawing, printmaking, and clay sculpture. With a degree in Fine Arts from UFS and extensive teaching experience, including at the University of the Free State, Dina brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to every workshop.
